I called on Wednesday to set up some inspections in PA/OH for early next week. Dates confirmed by my main contact, who said he would have his maintenance director call me to finalize things.
Got a voicemail at 7 am (because I was not answering the phone that early) and those dates don’t really work for the maintenance guy, can we push it to later next week?
No. Because 1) I paid $600 for flights already and 2) they’re due before next Wednesday.
Gonna take the doggo for a walk and get another cup of coffee before I deal with this mess.

I work for a company that has people go out to customer sites to do inspections of equipment or otherwise liase with customers, but luckily (?) I don’t have to do any of that. My Customer Fun (R) consists of trying to get enough information to do my job, sometimes from people visiting customer sites.

Well that sucks, hopefully you guys can get something worked out.
I’ve got to call my insurance agent today and ask why they enrolled me in a 20 pay life insurance policy without my consent. My bill jumped to over twice as much. Hoping it’s just some sort of miscommunication or something.

That sounds like when someone called about their cell service and AT&T switched mine instead. I had a hell of a time convincing them that I wasn’t actually moving to Canada. Good luck!

Well, the client is always welcome to pony up for the $1,400 of plane tickets because Jim Bob didn’t want to get up to early on Tuesday.

I’ve had a handful of these incidents lately. I’m mostly irritated because I know the clients ask about restrictions before I get a project so that means these guys aren’t taking that seriously. If I get an assignment that says “inspection must be done on a Tuesday or Thursday” or “schedule inspection for week of the 17th” I can easily make that happen.

My most common kind of schedule conflict is having something due by a certain time and being unable to complete due to information just being missing.
Right now I am drawing some components in an insulated room. The customer did not include the height of the room on the crude drawing they provided, only in an email chain I didn’t have - and didn’t mention if it has a floor or not. And we’re sending them an order confirmation that includes things that have to fit the room.

Ohhhhh boy. This sounds like when we need to do a noise analysis for new construction, only they haven’t figured out what they want to build or where on the lot it’ll be. “Well can’t you just calculate it anyway?” Yeah, but we’re going to charge you every time we need to update for new plans!
